Escaped Tiger From Flooded Georgia Zoo Kills Man

The Dead Tiger The tiger that escaped from a zoo after a flash flood in the Georgian capital Tbilisi over the weekend mauled a man to death on Wednesday before it was killed by police marksmen. Scores of animals including a hippopotamus, eight lions, seven tigers, several bears and up to 20 wolves went missing from their enclosures on Sunday after heavy rain and high winds caused a river in the city to break its banks. He later died of his wounds. “We entered the depot and, suddenly, a white tiger rushed out of an adjacent room and attacked one of the workers, jumping at his throat and mauling him,” a colleague of the victim, Alexander Shavbulashvili. “We broke the window of another room to flee, and the sound of breaking glass must have scared it and it ran away.” Irakli Garibashvili, the prime minister, issued a public apology for the death, claiming he had been misled by managers at the zoo when he announced on Monday that no animals posing a threat to residents remained alive.

Senate President Bukola Saraki has denied that federal lawmakers get N9billion wardrobe allowance. He also said there were plans by the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) to reduce salaries and allowances of federal lawmakers. Saraki, who stated this on his Twitter handle yesterday after meeting with the RMAFC boss, said the annual wardrobe allowance for each senator is N506,600 per annum, about N2.25 million ‎for their four-year tenure. He also absolved lawmakers of indiscriminately allocating monies to themselves, and said that RMAFC had the sole responsibility of fixing their remuneration, adding that the Commission would soon publish details of their allowances on its website. “RMAFC was in my office to clarify (that) wardrobe allowance is N506,600 per senator.‎ I have just been informed that RMFAC will be publishing details of allowances on their website. “With the current challenge we are facing as a nation, RMAFC will be reviewing allowances to reflect the current economic trend. Fixing remuneration is sole responsibility of RMAFC,” the Senate president said. LEADERSHIP recalls that there were media reports that a member of House Representatives collects N17.5 million as wardrobe allowance annually, while a senator receives about N21.5 million. A 70 year old man has been arrested in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom state after he killed his 60yr old wife with a machete. The man, Ita Daniel Okpo (pictured), from Mbiokporo village, attacked his wife, Alice Ita Daniel, with the machete while she was sleeping. The machete is now with the Police at the Force Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia. Narrating the story to newsmen yesterday Tuesday, 16th June, the Assistant Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, Mike Okoli, said the deceased was sleeping when the septuagenarian husband attacked and hacked her. The photos are horrific. “This man, Ita Daniel Okpo, in a most wicked act, slaughtered his wife with a machete and we arrested him. When asked, he admitted to killing his wife but said the late wife, Alice, always quarreled with him and that she was the first to carry machete. Gentlemen, but our findings revealed that the woman was sleeping when she was hacked to death”, When asked, the man admitted to killing his wife but said he took the action after finding out his late wife was sleeping with other men. “I regret my act, but I was forced to kill her because it was too much on me. In fact, at a point, she openly told me she would rather kill me than to stop sleeping with these men. To match words with action, she had been fighting me several times. So, on that fateful day, while we fought, I killed her” he said The ACP said the man will charged to court.

If the President had picked a vice, it is likely that such individual may get the access Osinbajo isn’t getting now. Everyone knows the VP has been loyal to Tinubu for decades and he cannot swear that he would not divulge details of these security meetings to his political godfather. So he has to earn it.
